Eat your Greens to reduce the risk of oral cancer

Eating green leafy vegetables "the risk of cutting" of oral cancer in women who smoke, a recent study revealed.

The research showed for each one serving of green leafy vegetables, reduces the risk of oral cancer for current women smokers, that have compared, who abandoned or never smoked.

While larger studies are needed to be studied on a moderate reduction, Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, Dr. Nigel Carter, expressed need to discover the true extent of diet can play in reducing the risk of oral cancer.

Dr. Carter said: "About one-third of all cases of oral cancer thought, are linked to an unhealthy diet." The Foundation recommends that people ensure that she a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables to eat. There also is evidence that suggests that Omega 3, found in fish and eggs, reduce risks of oral cancer, such as foods with a high fibre content such as brown rice, pasta and whole grains, nuts and seeds can help.

"We must not forget that tobacco is still the most likely cause of mouth cancer, relating to about three quarters of all cases of a disease, kills one person every five hours in the United Kingdom." New cases occur all the time, many people always still unaware of the danger of smoking poses. "Encourage people to stop smoking and to pursue a healthy lifestyle would reduce the risk of developing oral cancer."

The Foundation leads mouth cancer action month in November with the slogan 'in case of doubt checked out get'. The campaign aims to raise awareness of mouth cancer in the public and encourage people to visit their dentist or doctor for regular check-ups.

Mouth cancer is twice more common in men than in women, but an increasing number of women are diagnosed with the disease. Previously, the disease five times more often in men than in women, a fact was Dr. Carter believes is related to lifestyle.

Dr. Carter said: "the number of young people mouth, throat and food pipe cancer is diagnosed is steadily increasing." "Researchers believe that this is due to the excessive smoking, drinking and an unhealthy diet among young people, while new research of the oral cancer due to one of the human papilloma virus and oral sex shows a dramatic increase in."

While 26 years 147 confirmed cases of oral cancer with 2177387 were placed as a whole were taken into account for our analysis. The multivariate adjusted analysis for total fruit and vegetables was not clearly that with risk for oral cancer when comparing the highest income quintile of the image to the lowest income quintile (RR Q5 vs. Q1: 0.75; 95% CI: 0.40, 1.41). Some fruits and vegetables groups such as citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables, vitamin C rich vegetables were not risk for oral cancer in the adjusted multivariate analysis. Stratum specific analysis in current smokers, for each a portion of green leafy vegetables, which was a risk for oral cancer much lower compared to never and past to smokers (RR: 0.38; 95% CI: 0.15, 0.96).
