The Commission on cancer (CoC) of the American College of surgeons approved its outstanding achievement award to a select group of 90 currently accredited and new cancer accredited programs in the United States due to the polls in 2010 performed.
Founded in 2004, the CoC outstanding achievement award (OAA) to cancer programs detect, the pursuit of excellence in the provision of high-quality health care for cancer patients. The award is granted, facilities, to illustrate the a commendation level of consistency with the seven standards, represent the six areas of program activity cancer: cancer Committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical management, research, community outreach and quality improvement. There are currently more than 1,500 CoC accredited cancer programs 25 percent of hospitals in the United States and Puerto Rico. This CoC accredited institutions diagnose and/or treat 71 per cent of all newly diagnosed cancer patients each year. In addition, cancer patients are data reported by each CoC accredited cancer program to the CoC national cancer data base (NCDB), a joint program with the American Cancer Society (ACS). This data account for about two thirds of all new cancers in the United States diagnosed each year, and are used regularly, the quality of patient care delivered in CoC accredited cancer programs to monitor and to improve cancer care results at national and local level.
The CoC provides the public with information about resources, services and cancer treatment information experience for each CoC accredited cancer program.
